Initially 1-beta derdam will be produced in Japan. Later it will be transferred to a factory in Taiwan. 1-alpha DRam is currently being produced in Taiwan. In an interview, Sudana said the company was working with the Japanese government and other business partners to start production of DRam in Japan. He did not say how much would be invested in the Hiroshima plant. However, such production activities require new equipment and clean rooms, he said.
Last year, Micron Technology announced plans to invest 15 trillion over the next decade in memory production and research and development.
