Expected smartphones are not being sold in the US this year

Although sales of smartphones in the US market are forecast to grow by 6% this year, the desired sales are not being achieved due to inflation.  In 2022, smartphone sales in the country could increase by 2 percent.  This information has come up in the latest report of Counterpoint Research.

Expected smartphones are not being sold in the US this year

Smartphone sales will be relatively low this year due to the global supply chain crisis and inflation.  In addition, as consumers gradually rely on FiveG and LTE, sales of affordable smartphones will decline.

In the post-epidemic period, U.S. consumers are focusing on travel and tourism rather than buying technology products.  Inflation has also pushed up retail spending to increase fuel prices.

In the first quarter of this year, 39 million units of smartphones were sold in North America.  This is an increase of 3.6 percent over the same period last year.  Apple's smartphone sales have increased by 19 percent based on the iPhone 13.  The Cupertino-based company has a market share of 51 percent.

Another report by technology market analyst Canalis states that Apple's iPhone sold 20 million units in the January-March quarter.
