According to the Oxford Internet Institute, Bangladesh ranks second in freelancing. Bangladesh is not far behind first India. At present, the income of Bangladesh in the information technology sector is 1 billion dollars a year, and the contribution of freelancing is also a sight to behold.
Bangladesh Bank approved this circular recognizing information technology on January 16, 2022. Earlier, in a circular issued by Bangladesh Bank on September 20, 2021, it was stipulated that to get cash incentives for exporting services of individual-level freelancers as opposed to the export of software and ITES services, The IT department must recognize the Marketplace. In the current 2021-22 financial year, freelancers will get a 4 per cent cash incentive on income from 55 recognized platforms. Experts believe that if such progress is maintained in the freelancing sector, the IT sector will take a stronger position after export earnings.
The central bank has come up with an easy and fast way to provide this incentive provided by the government. A freelancer will get his cash incentive only if he verifies his earnings with proper documents.

In the case of ICT services, about 300 million is currently coming to Bangladesh from abroad through Bangladesh Bank. Although the amount of this revenue is 100 crores, it is undeniably that another 200 to 300 crores of dollars come to Bangladesh, said the ICT advisor to the Prime Minister. This initiative of the Government of Bangladesh to take the ICT sector further and further will not only encourage more freelancers but will also inspire many to build a career in freelancing.
